Last fall I met up with the F. Family at their family farm to update their pictures before the holidays! They have the most magnificently beautiful children who are sweet as can be but still have those impish smiles you see below! It was a cool evening but with some snuggles, warm hats, and cozy blankets, we kept warm.
Thank you again for bringing me into your home and letting me capture your family and the wonderful connections between you!

Because when it’s almost 60 degrees in the middle of December, you just have to get out there and have fun in your Christmas jammies!
Have I ever mentioned how much we love Hanna Andersson pajamas? We love the fit, the softness, and the quality that makes it possible to hand down well-loved pjs through these three sisters. 😉
And if I’m being honest, Emma is already wearing the jammies that Joshua was wearing in these images. Because red and green stripes are for EVERYONE in the month of December!
It’s not just my blog that I’m behind on! I finally had some of these adorable pictures printed and framed for my own mantle. Usually I stick to a fall-themed assortment of pictures because I LOVE me some October goodness! But this year when I was decorating for Christmas I decided it was time to switch it up and print my favorite holiday memories, and I’m so glad I did. What’s better than being reminded of the wonder and joy of your children during the holiday season?!
Print your memories. Look back on the good times. Embrace the fleeting moments.
Those are the things you won’t regret.
Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Snow!! We completely lucked out on this wintry scene on the day of this mini session! The snow didn’t last long and we spent the rest of the month of December hoping (in vain) for a White Christmas.
Well, at least we had these images for the H. Family’s Christmas Cards, right?!
I’m so glad they brought their sweet little fur-baby for these images, it’s always a lot of fun to get to know the furriest members of the family. And it’s important to capture them in family portraits, too!
Thank you for braving the cold for a few minutes on this wintry day last December!

It’s hard to believe – but these sweet pictures of A. and M. were taken almost exactly a year ago! And what a year it has been for these girls.
I’m going to let you in on a little secret…. the new year is going to bring them…. a new baby BROTHER!!!
We are so excited for this family, who have been friends of ours for so many years. I can’t wait to meet the new little man who will be such an amazing addition to their family.
Plus, she homeschools her girls! Guys, this mama really rocks! She’s an amazing person and I’m honored to call her a friend. You might recognize her from some of my previous work, she has always been up for random, last-minute, crazy ideas for photo shoots, like this day in Dec. 2015 when the air was too warm to pass up some quick pictures of the kids for Christmas. That kind of warm weather is just NOT typical of northern Michigan.
Now it’s time for new Christmas picture fun! But first I’m going to try and catch up a little more from this year’s sessions.
Merry Christmas Y’all!

Christmas. What a wonderful time of year! It’s already September and time to think about Christmas cards and how to fit everything fun into the schedule! Cookie making! Snowball fights! Hot chocolate! Holiday movie nights! I love it all. I can’t wait for Christmas time again, and being a mom to four wonderful kids makes this time of year just that much more enjoyable as I watch their delight.
Most years I have opted for Christmas jammies for our fun holiday pictures. This year I decided to go dressier with their wardrobe, but much more casual in the way I approached our setting. So this is our real Christmas tree, in our real living room, with the decorations left exactly where the kids placed them on the tree when they helped decorate, and paper snowflakes taped to the wall where they landed on the day we spent creating a huge confetti disaster in the living room. For me, there is something special about these images because of those real-life details. Pieces of life at this moment with these kids.
Of course, we were joined by cousin Levi for some Christmas pictures of him in that memorable moment in between a full set of teeth! I’m sure he got really sick of hearing people sing, “All I Want For Christmas…..” but how can anyone help it with a toothless grin like that?! It’s a timeless capture of these childhood moments.
I now have a gorgeous canvas on my wall of these kids, and it makes me so happy every time I look at it! I don’t even care that it’s a Christmas picture with a tree in it, I keep it up all year and enjoy the magic of the season as I anticipate this year’s celebrations. Are you ready for the holiday season to come? Thinking about Christmas traditions and capturing the memories with your family? Call me!
